Next up- New Jersey Red Balls

Last year, Sounders FC opened up the season with a 3-0 win over the MLS Cup runner's up. Two goals from Montero and a third from Brad Evans got us off to a great start. This time around, New York is getting a lot of hype because of their new stadium and coach. Don't believe the hype! They are still crap, and nothing but a win will do this Saturday.

So here is the question- What is the lamest thing about the Red Bulls franchise? Is it the fact that their entire name/identity is tied to an energy drink that gives you a worse hang over than alcohol? Maybe you think its a bit pozerous to claim New York when they are from New Jersey? Maybe you are pissed that they only averaged 12,000 fans last year?

Also- Please include any ridiculously rude or catchy insults for their players!

  2. It was either NY Red Bulls or the New Jersey Fist Pumping Jager Bombing A-Holes. Even though the worst of the two names prevailed they are still going to showcase the new mascot....Gary the Orange Guido! Can't wait.

  3. I think a good name for a New Jersey team would have been the New Jersey Mussolinis.

  5. Fun facts about Red Bull from an article in the UK:

Red Bull may claim to “give you wings” but drinking too much of the popular energy drink may also lead to heart damage, a study suggests.

A study of 30 university students aged between 20 and 24 years old found that drinking just one 250ml sugar-free can of the caffeinated energy drink increased the “stickiness” of the blood and raised the risk of blood clots forming.

Earlier this year a teenager from Darlington was sent to hospital after drinking eight cans of Red Bull. Paramedics reported that the 15-year-old suffered heart palpitations.

Last year a large study of American college students found that those who drank energy drinks mixed with alcohol during a night out were twice as likely to be injured or otherwise come to harm than those who consumed alcoholic drinks on their own.

  6. Here is another fun fact:
The Austrian health ministry confirmed that it has found trace levels of cocaine in test samples of Red Bull Cola energy drinks. Spokeswoman Sigrid Rosenberger said the findings hovered near the lowest detectable levels, and do not pose a health risk.

  7. Man... I drank so many Red Bull Vodkas when I was younger... this is disturbing news. It may also mean that I can no longer claim to have never done coke. What else don't I know about myself.
